We will be having our annual Fire Extinguisher inspection on Friday 10/3/2025. This inspection is to ensure compliance with section 6.6 of our bylaws which states "Each unit is required to have one (1) operating fire extinguisher. It is recommended to also have one (1) fire extinguisher in the garage." This is necessary to avoid the possible cancellation of our HOA Insurance. For this service, we either need access to your unit or for you to leave your fire extinguisher out on the front porch (the one facing the courtyard) ready for inspection. The inspection will be performed by Amerisafe and will consist of a visual inspection, checking the charge, checking for dates and looking for any outward damage or corrosion that may exist on the fire extinguisher.
If your fire extinguisher fails inspection you will be expected to replace the fire extinguisher. You may either source your own or purchase a new/used extinguisher from Amerisafe. Should you choose the Amerisafe option, you may reimburse the HOA with your next month's assessment or pay them directly as there is no price difference. Regardless, please indicate your choice to the Fire Extinguisher Coordinator and have a replacement extinguisher placed in your unit within one (1) week. As a reminder, our current policy requests that replacements be either a 2.5lb or 5lb ABC style fire extinguisher properly mounted to an interior wall of your unit. It may be mounted inside a closet or pantry but must be accessible by all persons living in your unit.
If you are not home or you fail to leave your fire extinguisher out (or with another resident should you be out of town) for inspection you will be required to handle this yourself. You will need to provide evidence that you have complied with policy to the Fire Extinguisher Coordinator. Examples of sufficient evidence are copies of purchase receipts or photos of the tag indicating the unit passed inspection this year. Please be advised that failure to comply with this requirement puts the HOA at risk and could result in fines for the homeowner.
